Hi Sasha, I don’t work on how COVID is spread, but on a different part of COVID research – testing a vaccine to try to stop is spreading!

My team are working on gathering data from all the COVID DNA testing that’s being done. This is then loaded up on a dashboard to help public health agencies in the UK make decisions and track the impact of lockdown measures: https://microreact.org/project/cogconsortium-2020-06-26/b2735aed/
The different COVID strains have been grouped and given colours so we can see what the major ones are, how they change across the country, and whether COVID is getting more or less diverse over time. You can also use this info in the context of data from other countries to estimate how many times the virus has been introduced into the country form overseas.
