Sometimes! I make sure to balance my time between lab work, desk work and also making sure I take breaks to avoid getting too tired in the lab. I also try to meet up with my partner for lunch so I get out of the building to get some fresh air. Sometimes I do have to spend a *LONG* time in the lab because of a tricky procedure, or because of approaching deadlines – which can happen in a lot of jobs. My motto is that if I am too tired/ worn out to drive a car, I shouldn’t be in the lab for safety reasons.
Yes sometimes! My experiments can be very repetitive and take a long time. To help with this, I take lots of tea breaks, have lunch with my friends, and listen to the radio and podcasts. If I’m feeling really bored of it, I have a playlist of my favourite upbeat songs, have a little (safe) dance, and get going again!
